1. Declutter.

One half of cleaning is organising, tidying up and reorganising accounts for a large amount of cleaning. Your home is most likely less dirty than you think it is reorganising for convenience, or cleaning up scattered mess around the house can make a significant difference in the cleanliness of your home. Before you reach for a mop, consider if the floor is really dirty or simply cluttered.

2. Plan things out.

Having a plan ahead of time that prioritises particular spaces and rooms of the house can be a huge time saver. Starting on the dirtiest rooms of the house or dedicating more time to rooms that bother you will create motivation to get everything done after having cleaned the most intimidating room.

Keeping a schedule within view will help improve your chances of actually following it, improving your chances of having a clean household. Setting time aside once a fortnight or once a month to get some cleaning done will help avoid being overwhelmed by an influx of sudden cleaning that needs to be done for those last-minute guests.

3. Sectioning.

A simple yet effective cleaning strategy that's not implemented nearly enough is cleaning things from top to bottom. The reason this strategy works is because dust and dirt falls and collects over time. Splitting up areas you need to clean and working from top to bottom ensures that no spot has been missed and helps with the consistency of your cleaning. This helps to accomplish a generally cleaner finish and smoother process that will prevent you from burning out and discourage you from cleaning only half the house.

4. Robot Vacuum Cleaners.

With new technological advancements, cleaning is easier than it has ever been. Investing in something such as a roomba can help ease the burden of cleaning. Having a robot vacuum cleaner that’s constantly dusting and cleaning the floor will make overall cleaning less tedious as it has already been pre-cleaned.

5. Make it a group activity.

One way of making cleaning less of a chore and more engaging is to do it with family and friends! Cleaning can be a calming and de-stressing activity, and when done with others can be quite a fun task. Assigning tasks to different individuals and interacting with each other will make the experience less tedious, and the process will seem shorter and less tiring. Once done cleaning, you will have a cleaner house and peace of mind.
